Safeguarding Children

Child safeguarding is a fundamental aspect of our operations and programme work. Our SOS Care Promise articulates our commitment to create a safe environment for children and young people, and our Child Protection Policy and accompanying procedures are mandatory across the entire SOS Children’s Villages federation.

Our Child Safeguarding approach is about: Minimizing risks through awareness raising and prevention and managing incidents through reporting and responding to these.

The term child safeguarding includes all activities that the organisation undertakes to ensure that:

  • its co-workers, operations, and programmes do no harm to children and do not expose them to the risk of harm and abuse;
  • appropriate responses and effective management of child safeguarding concerns are in place;
  • any concerns about children´s safety in our programs or within the communities we work in are reported to the appropriate authorities.
